Wellie
$30,000 OBO

Wellie is an exceptionally kind and willing all-arounder type partner! Standing just shy of 16.0hh, this 9yo Dutch Harness gelding has spent the last 4 years being the put-up-with-anything pony I never had. From being my horse blanket packmule to Halloween dress up with My Little Pony bum paintings to wrapping his head in fairy lights for Holiday photos, he's super in your pocket and willing to put up with a wide variety of shenanigans. He loads, ties, stands for the vet and farrier, and is the same horse whether he's in work every day or 2 days a week. He's fat on air and happy barefoot - though ideally would do best in a cooler climate than FL. He was originally supposed to be my 6 month resale project, and 4 years later he's still the only one in my barn who cuddles with visitors and puts the biggest smile on my face every single day.
Competition wise, I feel Wellie is best suited for the dressage rings, and is currently getting ready to start schooling his changes for his 3rd level tests. He recently got back into the show ring at 1st level 06/15/25 and earned a 69.07% on First 1 and a 67.27% on First 2. He finds his lateral work to be very easy and with a little more fitness work he'll be ready for 2nd level in competition. He has a light jumping foundation as well and seems to really enjoy it! In October 2023 he won the Ocala Barnstaple Eventing Derby at Intro with only 2 weeks to prepare and one single XC outting under his belt. He currently jumps small fences once every week or two to add some variety to his life. He does all of his work in a soft Nathe bit, and is a kick ride for the most part, but he does liven up and carry his own pace once you've convinced him that you mean it. He needs some support and confidence in a new setting, as the world can be full of predators - but doesn't have a mean bone in his body and tells you ahead of time if something is going to be scary. He does not have a rated show record in large part due to my finances limiting our ability to register and show rated USDF competitions.
Wellie would do best with a competent Adult Amateur or a kid who doesn't want to go to the Olympics, but really wants to have a flashy partner they can bring home some blue ribbons with at the lower levels. He is currently sound with no maintenance, though he does have a cosmetic blemish (seroma) over his withers from a poor decision with my fence (the grass isn't always greener after all!) He's been seen by 3 different ISELP Certified vets to ensure it is not causing him pain, and it may be fixable with a few rounds of steroids. Overall, I can't say a single negative thing about this sweet, flashy, overgrown pony of mine. He has spent far too much of his life on my back burner, and as much as I absolutely adore him, the time has come for him to find a human who can show him off the way he deserves!
