History & Demeanor
Wellie is the do-anything partner you've been dreaming of! Standing around 16.0hh, this 9yo Dutch Harness gelding puts a smile on everyone's face. What started as an unbroke 5yo intended to be a 6-month resale project quickly turned into a 4 year stay here because he's just been so sweet and easy to keep around. Wellie is barefoot with zero current maintenance while ridden 5-6 days a week, and is the same horse whether worked every day or once a week! He is easy as can be for the vet and farrier, walks right onto the trailer every time, and lives out full-time.
Dressage Work
Wellie is capable of really shining in the dressage rings with scores in the upper 60's at both 1st and 2nd level and top 5 placings at each of his 2025 outings thus far. He finds his lateral work to be very easy and with a little more fitness work he'll be ready to start tackling his changes.
Over Fences
Although on the green side here, Wellie has shown incredible talent and willingness over fences, with scope well into the 3' ranges! He holds a steady pace to the fences, is honest and careful. He does need a confident rider at his current training level to help him stay focused on what he's jumping rather than the objects nearby. He does all work in a Nathe or basic snaffle.
Show Demeanor
While he is very quiet at home, Wellie does liven up off-property. He goes from a Minivan to a Mustang in the show ring - meaning he develops his own motor, and kicks his talent up a few notches. He stands quietly at the trailer, and doesn't have a mean bone in his body, but he can be on the spooky side at the trot and canter, and needs a rider who isn't bothered if there's monsters in the trashcans.
Ideal Fit
Wellie would do best with a competent, confident Adult Amateur or Young Rider who wants a fun partner they can bring home the blues with and produce through the low-mid levels. He is ready to show 2nd level Dressage currently, and BN Eventing - with easy scope for Novice/Training.
