Based in Ocala, Florida, Flashpoint Sporthorses is an emerging full service Thoroughbred training and sales farm owned and operated by Kaitlin Veltkamp. Kaitlin has been riding since the age of 5 years old and has dreamt of Olympic Gold ever since. When she was just 11, she was paired up with her long-time partner, Flashpoint D after whom the farm is now named. Together, Kaitlin and Flashpoint D, aka “Undie”, grew from Beginner Novice through the Advanced/4* level of competition. Together, they made their first big appearance at NAJYRC in 2011 where they anchored the Area VI team and helped them to Team Silver. An acute tendon injury sidelined Undie the following year and they never returned to tackle the NAYRC track. Once Undie had made a full recovery, the pair continued to advance through the levels. Kaitlin and Undie won their first CIC*** (now 4*-S) competition, and only once finished outside the top three at Advanced. Her career with Undie saw many successes in their home state of California, including Advanced and Intermediate Horse of the Year, Advanced and Intermediate Young Rider of the Year, and Overall Horse of the Year for 2014.
Kaitlin and Undie were named to the 2015 Eventing 25 team, and it was shortly after their first training session with coach Leslie Law that Kaitlin made the permanent move to Ocala, Florida to work for Leslie. Unfortunately, early in 2015 it became clear that it was in Undie’s best interest to retire from upper level competition. Since then, Kaitlin has been working for some of the best in both the Eventing and Thoroughbred communities in Ocala, while searching for her next upper level Eventing prospect. Kaitlin began a new chapter in her career as Dr. Marcus Harden's sportsmedicine vet tech on June 30th, 2020. The knowledge and experience gained from this position are invaluable and a huge asset to Flashpoint Sporthorses boarding and and training operation!

In 2017, with the help of her parents, Kaitlin acquired her own 12 acre farm to call home and grow her business out of. What started as a 3 stall hobby farm is now a 7 stall boarding facility complete with 150x160ft arena, full jump course, individual turnouts with auto waterers, climate controlled tack room and more!
