Keep It Up aka Tatertot
Tater is a 16.2hh 7yo hunk of a thoroughbred by Put It Back out of a Coronado's Quest mare, who retired sound from the track in May after earning $44k across 13 starts. He is a super sweet boy with impeccable ground manners. He loads, stands beautifully for the vet/farrier, and is UTD on teeth and chiropractic/bodywork. He is only shod in front. He is always down to cuddle and would love nothing more than a human of his very own!
Under saddle Tater is very attentive and willing, and takes very light aids. He does all of his work in a Nathe bit. He would do best with a confident and quiet rider as he is quite attentive to shifts in weight and subtle seat cues. His gaits are comfortable and easy to sit, and he has his own motor but would like light and consistent encouragement within the gait. This horse has tons of scope and a very trainable attitude. Once he learns to use his body and interpret aids properly, he's going to make an incredible partner!
A recent PPE revealed he has an old Condylar Fracture and two screws in his left front fetlock. The fracture healed well, and he went on to run 4 more times before retiring sound! He has maintained soundness in all of his post-track work. It does however limit his projected longevity at the upper levels of Eventing. Three vets have examined the radiographs and all believe he will have a long career at the lower levels or in a lower impact discipline with basic joint maintenance. He would best be suited as a dressage or hunter prospect, or low level Eventer/jumper.
